The mind is the forerunner of all actions. Our actions are the direct result of our thoughts. Everything starts with the thoughts in our minds. If we have a negative mind, we will have a negative life. If we have a positive mind, we will have a positive life. A positive mind emerges from a renewed mind. The book of proverbs is clear on this in chapter 23:7 KJV said: “ For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” You become what you think nothing more and nothing less. If you want to align yourself with your God-given destiny then you need to start working in your mind – the way you think.
No matter how great your dream in life is or your desire to make a difference in people’s lives – first you have to be transformed. Another clear message on this subject is Romans 12:2 KJV “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” This verse starts by giving instruction regarding the mind or the thought pattern saying – and be not conformed to this world. This is not some kind of suggestion but rather it is a clear command from God that we ought not to conform to the ways of this world. So how do we not conform to the pattern of this world? Well, the verse continues on to say being transformed by the renewal of your mind. According to this verse transformation of our mind and our thought pattern is very crucial. It is a daily intentional practice. Our mind needs a daily renewal from the day we become believers (i.e accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, acknowledging what Jesus has done on the cross). When your mind is renewed then you will be able to capture the perfect will of God for your life. How does the mind get transformed? By the Word of God. The Word of God has the power to change our thought patterns and make it align with the will of God!
When we immerse ourselves fully in the Word of God; our minds begin filled with the life-giving Word then the transformation starts to happen. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matt.4:4 The Word of God is a living bread to our minds. Your life starts to produce fruit that is pleasing to God. According to this verse, you will be able to discern the perfect will of God for your life. It is safe to say most of the time our problems are rooted in our thinking patterns; that actually produces the problems we experience in life. The enemy is an expert at offering us wrong thoughts that are against the Word of God, but we don’t have to accept his offer. We can learn and ask the Holy Spirit to show us thoughts that are acceptable to Him. Bring into line your thoughts with God’s thoughts by learning from His word. A changed mind produces a life-giving fruit. A transformed mind is a mind that is filled with the Word of God.
